Milton defers vote on rural event facility

MILTON, Ga. — In light of local opposition, the Milton City Council deferred a request May 5 for a use permit a local church is seeking for a rural event facility.

Ebenezer Methodist Church is requesting to use its new 23,000-square-foot activity center at 12900 Arnold Mill Road for events, but first needs a use permit allowing third-party gatherings of up to 300. The building sits on 6.61 acres.

“Our mission still is the same for all of the 6 acres, it is to know the love of God, grow as disciples of his son Jesus Christ and go share that love with others,” church and Board of Trustees Chairman Michael McGuire said. ‘With the addition, this is going to give us the ability to bless the community in greater ways than we have been able to with the little white church on the corner.”…
