Severe Thunderstorm, Large Hail Risk For Central Florida Thursday

ORLANDO, Florida – Central Florida is set for a wet and stormy afternoon and evening, with severe weather threats on Thursday, May 8, 2025, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe weather outlook for Central Florida due to the potential for severe thunderstorms, hail, and gusty winds that are expected to impact the region on Thursday.

Damaging wind gusts up to 45-55 MPH, lightning strikes, coin-sized hail, and locally heavy rainfall are the main hazards.

The risk for strong to severe storms will mainly focus across the eastern half of Central Florida, with the highest coverage and intensity after 4 PM through approximately 9 PM Thursday.
