Man hit and killed using a crosswalk on U Street Northwest

WASHINGTON — DC Police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run along U Street in Northwest D.C. It happened around 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of 12th and U Streets.

Surveillance footage from a nearby convenience store shows a man using the crosswalk being hit and killed by a car turning onto 12th from U Street. Police have since identified the man as 55-year-old Donnel Bracket Phillips.

MPD sources tell WUSA9, the suspects involved in this hit and run are believed to be involved in two robberies early Wednesday morning, before the deadly collision happened…
