A 30-year-old man from Washington, D.C., Alante Partlow, has been handed a prison sentence of 156 months for the shooting of a 5-year-old child and an adult in 2024. Official statements released by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr. and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the ruling that was made in Superior Court. After pleading guilty on October 18, 2024, Partlow accepted responsibility for two counts of aggravated assault while armed and one count of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.
As reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, the violent incident took place close to 11:20 p.m. on April 23, 2024, when casualties were emerging from an apartment building in the Fort Totten neighborhood. The adult victim had been in an argument with Partlow shortly before trying to exit the complex with the child. Partlow followed and proceeded to quickly open fire, with the adult victim attempting to shield the child from the shots, resulting in multiple wounds for both.
In addition to his prison term, Partlow has been sentenced to five years of supervised release, as determined by Superior Court Judge Robert Okun. This move comes amidst efforts to reduce violent crime in the nation’s capital, aligning with President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order to “Make DC Safe and Beautiful,” which seeks to strengthen law enforcement and foster community partnerships for safety and wellbeing, as mentioned on U.S. Attorney’s Office…
