AISD’s plan for 3 ‘underperforming’ schools may lead to staff evaluations, restructuring

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin I.S.D. presented its new turnaround plan to the Board of Trustees Thursday night for three middle schools, which have received three failing accountability ratings from the state.

A district-led restart of these schools would keep the doors to these schools open, but could require staff to be evaluated to stay at their schools. If performance doesn’t improve by December, the district would have to partner the schools with charter schools or face a state takeover.
