Community cornerstone and owner of Grove Market and Deli passes away

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Salt Lake City residents and frequenters may recognize the Grove Market and Deli, located at 1906 S Main St. It’s been open since 1947, and touts “Salt Lake’s best sandwiches and hot sauces.”

Those who visited often probably became familiar with Jim Savas, who owned and managed the market for 61 years. His family remembers him as a beacon in the community. Jim Savas passed away last week, on May 3.

His son, Matthew Savas, spoke with ABC4 about his father’s role in the community.
