DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – On Feb. 26, baby Jaxon’s family was driving on I-69 when he suddenly started to turn blue.
His mom, Sarah Flowers, called 911, and DeKalb County Deputy Aaron Long arrived minutes later to administer life-saving measures. The three-month-old went from not breathing to crying, signaling he was going to be OK.
“That was one cry that I hope I can hear for the rest of my life, remembering the sound of that,” Long recalled. “Everyone took a huge sigh, and everyone was getting teary-eyed.”
Friday, the DeKalb County sheriff gave Long the Lifesaving Award for his quick actions that day. Fellow officers and Jaxon’s family joined Long at the county courthouse to honor him…
