Kalamazoo Country Club’s ‘transformational’ upgrade begins to take shape

The 116-year-old Kalamazoo Country Club is in the midst of a massive upgrade to create a year-round destination for members with an elite championship golf course designed by an acclaimed architect who’s worked on some of the country’s renowned courses.

Four years after Kalamazoo business titan William Johnston acquired the property for $3.1 million, its transformation is starting to take shape as dirt moves, buildings rise and phases are unveiled in 2026 and 2027.
