Help and hope, at a critical time and place: a bridge in Wilmington

Wilmington’s Washington Street Bridge now bears a message of hope.

A sign highlighting the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is now in place at the bridge, which has been called a “quiet witness to these tragedies” as the scene of several suicides and suicide attempts over the years.

Councilwoman ShanĂ© Darby said she hopes it is part of a community drive toward “visible, accessible and compassionate support for those battling mental health struggles.”…
