According to a statement on its official Facebook page, the DeSoto Police Department plans to host an Annual Police Memorial Ceremony on May 14 at 9:00 AM.
According to the DeSoto PD’s social media post, this event will honor and remember the officers who have laid down their lives while serving their community. Chief Joe Costa, Mayor Rachel Proctor, and the DeSoto Police Honor Guard will lead the ceremony. The proceedings will include a moment of silence and a 21-gun salute, a traditional show of respect for fallen officers.
In what promises to be a moving tribute, attendees will also experience the sound of bagpipes played by retired DeSoto Police Lieutenant Melissa Franks.
