Multiple people sentenced for drug trafficking conspiracy

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The U.S. Department of Justice announced the sentencing of multiple people who were recently convicted of a drug trafficking conspiracy.

According to officials, U.S. Chief Judge Shelly D. Dick sentenced the five men after an extensive federal, state, an local investigation aimed at a large-scale cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine trafficking network based in Iberville Parish.

Sentences

  • Barold Raven, 47, of St. Gabriel, was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment in federal prison following his conviction for conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine, possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He must also serve five years of supervised release after leaving prison.
  • Dedrick Ambeau, 44, of St. Gabriel, was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment in federal prison following his conviction for conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and distribution of heroin. He must also serve three years of supervised release after leaving prison.
  • Jake Henry Gordon III, 46, of Greenwell Springs, was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment in federal prison following his conviction for conspiracy to distribute heroin and conspiracy to commit money laundering. He must also serve three years of supervised release after leaving prison.
  • Leo Sternfels, 65, of Gonzales, was sentenced to 12 months and 1 day imprisonment in federal prison following his conviction for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine. He must also serve three years of supervised release after leaving prison.
  • In a separate, but related case, Charles J. Alexander, Jr., 40, of St. Gabriel, was sentenced to 180 months imprisonment in federal prison following his conviction for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of firearms by a convicted felon. He must also serve 3 years of supervised release after leaving prison.

According to the DOJ, the suspects admitted through their pleas to being involved in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine between February and October 2019, working together to distribute drugs throughout Iberville, Ascension, East Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana parishes…
