San Antonio Schools Receive Over $1.5 Million in Grants for Workforce Training from Texas Governor Abbott

Investing in the future workforce just got a significant boost in San Antonio, thanks to Governor Greg Abbott. The governor announced that over $1.5 million in career training grants are heading to five area schools. According to the Office of the Texas Governor, these grants aim to train students for jobs that are not only in high demand but also promise substantial pay.

The grants, routed through the Texas Workforce Commission’s (TWC) Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) program, will enable schools to purchase, and install equipment essential for training in excess of 650 students. Occupations such as software developers, nurses, and welders are on the agenda, occupations that reflect the growing needs of Texas’ diverse industries. Governor Abbott was quoted, “As the Texas economy continues to reach greater heights, it is critical that we keep investing in our future workforce.” He went on to underline the importance of these grants in securing “a better job and bigger paycheck opportunity after graduation,” a statement obtained by the Office of the Texas Governor.
