WW2 era ammunition and hand grenade found in Westlake home

WESTLAKE, Ohio (WOIO) – A concerned Westlake resident emailed the fire department after they found what they believed was an “old WWII grenade and 2 anti-aircraft shells” in the basement of a home they had recently purchased.

Officials immediately emailed back, warning the resident not to touch the munitions.

The Westlake PD/Westshore Bomb unit was contacted.

Once officers made phone contact with the resident and learned where they lived, the bomb squad was dispatched…
