Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott held a press conference today to announce the arrest of two additional individuals in connection with the shooting that occurred at Columbia Mall on April 2.
According to Lott, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force and Special Response Team have arrested a 16-year-old male, who has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature in connection with the event.
Lott also indicated that deputies determined during the investigation that the 16-year-old’s mother, Erika Edmonds, age 37, had knowledge that her son was involved in the incident and provided false information to investigators concerning her son’s involvement.
