On May 9, AHN Saint Vincent celebrated their nurses.
The hospital held their annual nurse’s week awards ceremony and recognized ten nurses on their staff. The Chief Nursing Officer, Sallie Piazza, shared one story about the nursing staff:
“We had a patient that was in ICU that had lived with his significant other for many many years and was dying, and he regretted that he was not, that they weren’t married. The nursing staff took it upon themselves to put together a quick little wedding. We had a priest come, we could marry the couple, they had cake, they had music, and friends came, and it was a beautiful thing, and the gentleman was so happy, and he passed later on about five or six hours later. But it was a wonderful, wonderful thing that the nurses did, and that’s what embodies nursing.”…
