Five men sentenced for large-scale drug trafficking operations in four parishes

Five men were sentenced in federal court this week for their roles in a large-scale cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine trafficking network that was operating in four parishes, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office with the Middle District Court in Baton Rouge.

The network, based in Iberville Parish, distributed drugs there and throughout East Baton Rouge, Ascension and West Feliciana parishes from February 2019 to October 2019, Acting U.S. Attorney April Leon said in a news release.

Chief Judge Shelly Dick sentenced the men on varying charges:

  • Barold Raven, 47, of St. Gabriel, sentenced to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine, and possession of a firearm to further drug trafficking. Raven was also sentenced to five years of supervised release following his prison term.
  • Dedrick Ambeau, 44, of St. Gabriel, sentenced to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine, distribution of heroin and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Ambeau will serve three years of supervised release after his prison term.
  • Jake Gordon III, 46, of Greenwell Springs, was sentenced to two years in prison for conspiracy to distribute heroin and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Gordon was also sentenced to three years of supervised release after prison.
  • Leo Sternfels, 65, of Gonzales was sentenced to one year and one day for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine. He was also sentenced to three years of supervised release after prison.

In a separate but related case, Charles Alexander, 40, of St. Gabriel was sentenced to a year and five months in prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of firearms by a convicted felon. He will serve three years of supervised release after prison…
