WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A man convicted in the January 2024 shooting death of another man in south Wichita faces the better part of a decade in prison. On Friday, the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that a judge sentenced 39-year-old Yancy Hermosillo to seven years in prison following his conviction of second-degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Ladonte Ostrander.
Early on the morning of Jan. 16, 2024, Wichita Police Department officers responded to a 911 call that reported shots fired in the 1000 block of South Market. Officers arrived and searched the area but found no scene, victim, or witness. Ten minutes later, officers were dispatched to an unknown call in the 900 block of South Market.
