City of Albuquerque issues stop work order on company’s fiber optic construction

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Since 2022, the City on Albuquerque has been trying to bring fiber optic internet to residents. So far, three companies have set up shop here in the Duke City, but it has come with major problems. “I’ve been here 34 years in this cul-de-sac… Had construction had this done before, never had this type of disrespect and inconvenience,” said John Orlovsky, who has construction taking place in front of his house.

With multiple violations and complaints of damages to homes all across the city from the three fiber optic companies, the city has said enough is enough. The latest company to be placed on a stop work order is Ezee Fiber. Many of the complaints the city has received include cut water lines, open holes like this left improperly covered, destroyed yards that were never restored to their original state, and damaged homes. Aresident last month told KRQE News 13 Ezee Fiber has caused more than $100,000 in damages after crews hit a water pipe.

“We are doing what we need to do to shut these companies down until they get it right and we are going to hold them legally accountable for the damages and for violating all the city rules that they are not following,” said Mayor Tim Keller…
