Over ten years ago, on April 23, 2015, Mathew Straub called his mom, who was with his wife, Sharika, at the time, to say that there were two men outside his home that he didn’t recognize. WILX, who spoke with Straub’s mother, Barbara Holliman, in 2018, said that the phone call came at 9:38 a.m.
It would be the last time she would hear her son’s voice.
Just 22 minutes later, she was at Straub’s home at 616 Fenton Street in Lansing, Michigan, facing a front door that had been kicked in, and calling for a son who would never respond. She called 911, and the Lansing Police Department (LPD) would find him fatally shot on his kitchen floor shortly after.
