A few showers and a thunderstorm this weekend, even more expected Monday and Tuesday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Skies will be mostly cloudy tonight as deep moisture flows across the region, well ahead of an upper level low over the Lower Mississippi Valley. Enough moisture and lift will be available for the development of scattered showers late this evening through the early morning hours on Sunday. Lows will be in the middle 50s and winds will remain light northeasterly.

SUNDAY: Skies will be mostly cloudy and there will be a few showers and a thunderstorm or two possible. Highs will reach the middle and upper 70s. Winds will be northeasterly at around 5 to 10 mph.

MONDAY: The upper level low will move ever so slowly north through the Lower Mississippi Valley on Monday, bringing a gradual increase in moisture to the region from the Gulf. During this time, atmospheric instability will also be increasing. Therefore, there will be a few more showers and thunderstorms around the area. Highs will be limited to the mid 70s in this moist weather regime and winds will be easterly around 5 to 10 mph.
