10 years for River North robbery that left victim shot

A man who was involved in an armed robbery that ended with the victim being shot by an accomplice in River North was given a 10-year sentence on Friday.

Eric Purdis, 33, pleaded guilty to armed robbery in exchange for the sentence from Judge Shelley Sutker-Dermer, according to court records.

The robbery occurred around 5:30 a.m. on September 23, 2023, outside a convenience store in the 400 block of North State. Chicago cops initially responded to calls of shots fired and a person shot, but they didn’t find anyone injured.
