ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque is mourning the recent loss of a newborn baby who was found dead in an Albuquerque dumpster . “Everybody should know that they have resources, they have help. Being a mom is tough, it’s a lot of work. Sometimes it’s those 2:00 a.m. mornings where you realize this may not be cut out for you, and that’s okay, but choose safety and choose life,” said Savanah Rangel, event coordinator.
At a candlelight vigil at the Rio Grande Plaza in northwest Albuquerque, dozens showed up to mourn the loss of the baby. Two weeks ago, police confirmed that the mother was homeless.

Organizers say there are resources in Albuquerque to ensure something like this will never happen again. “I’ve been homeless before, I had a rough time growing up, and the biggest thing I could possibly do is to let people know they are not alone,” said Rangel.
The mother told police the baby was stillborn, but medical investigators are waiting on an official cause of death report…
