A gun sale turned into a harrowing crime scene last month when a legal owner of an AR-15 rifle was robbed at gunpoint in a Tacoma parking lot. In a statement obtained by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department blog, the victim had arranged to sell his firearm in the 15800 block of Pacific Ave. S, only to be ambushed by juvenile offenders who fled with the weapon in hand.
Quick-thinking witnesses captured crucial information, such as the license plate and vehicle description, enabling deputies to connect the dots to known juvenile suspects with a history of armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms. Found in the Sunrise area of Puyallup, the getaway van was associated with the suspects.
In a swift response, two suspects made a run for it while two others stayed behind, showing compliance inside the van. A successful collaboration between Puyallup Police Department’s K9 Griff and his handler, along with the Sheriff’s deputies, led to the apprehension of three suspects at the scene.
