Last Thursday, the calm of the 3300 block of Santa Fe Avenue in Long Beach was shattered by the sound of gunfire. According to a report from the Long Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area around 10:31 p.m. following reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, the police were able to quickly locate evidence of a shooting, despite no victims being found at the scene. As of now, the LBPD has not released any suspect information or a possible motive, stating that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing. The LBPD blotter post from Friday confirms that “Upon arrival officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. No injuries were reported.”
This incident adds to a concerning trend of gun-related crimes in urban neighborhoods, sparking yet more dialogue about public safety and gun control within the community.
