STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A new special education school will open on Staten Island in September, adding more seats and highly specialized instructional support for students in the borough.
Schools Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos announced on Monday that seven new schools would open across the five boroughs, including Staten Island Rise Academy, or PS 89. It is a District 75 school, which supports students with significant challenges, such as autism, significant cognitive delays, emotional disabilities, sensory impairments, and multiple disabilities.
