Venice Council to consider increasing EMS fees

VENICE — If the Venice City Council approves, fees for emergency aid services rendered by Venice Fire Rescue will be going up. And, for the first time, they’ll be adjusted for inflation annually.

Higher fees are necessary due to “inflationary costs for fuel, supplies and other medical care commodities, according to a May 5 memo from Fire Chief Frank Giddens to the Council.

The increases to be considered Tuesday are much smaller than the adjustments two years ago, and a few fees won’t rise at all…
