LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Get ready for a blast of summer-like heat this week, with near-record temperatures expected to reach the South Plains by mid-week.
After a gorgeous Mother’s Day, tonight will will be calm and pleasant as temperatures dip into the mid-50s to low 60s across the region.
By Monday, the high-pressure will be strengthen and be firmly in place. This will bring significantly warmer air into the region, with highs climbing to around 90 degrees.
Overnight lows will remain mild, in the low 60s, as warm air continues to flow in.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be the hottest days of the week as the high pressure system stalls over the region. Breezy southwest winds of 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, will make these days feel even hotter and elevate fire danger.
