Texas is known for its wild temperature swings , and that’s exactly what we’re expecting across Southeast Texas as we move through the upcoming week. It all has to do with a major shift in the upper-level weather pattern that’s about to occur.
First, a low-pressure system is expected to hover over Louisiana and far East Texas throughout the day on Sunday. That means clouds will stay prevalent over Southeast Texas, light northeast winds will continue, and Mother’s Day temperatures will be unseasonably cool.
However, that low pressure system will move northeast as we head into the new work week, and a high pressure system will start to move northward out of northern Mexico. That’s going to send temperatures soaring across the state, with potential record temperatures for the Houston area. Here’s how the week will play out.
Mother’s Day forecast
Mother’s day will start on a cool note, with morning temperatures hovering in the low to mid-60s through 10 a.m. under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Temps will slowly rise, but because skies will stay relatively cloudy throughout the day, below-average temps will stay with us.
Tempoeratures in Houston will likely rise to around 70 degrees by noon, topping out in the mid-70s by the late afternoon. That’s about 10 degrees cooler than normal for May 11…
