Ballistic evidence leads to murder plea in 2020 Lehigh River Bridge shooting

An Allentown man has pleaded guilty to felony murder following a 2020 shootout that left a 21-year-old man dead.

Jose Rafael Santiago, 42, of the 400 block of South Bradford Street, also pleaded guilty to felony conspiracy to commit robbery. Other charges of felony conspiracy to commit criminal homicide and two counts felony robbery were withdrawn in a plea agreement, Pamela Lehman, spokeswoman for the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, told lehighvalleylive.com.

Santiago pleaded guilty Friday during a hearing before Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas Judge Anna-Kristie M. Marks. He now faces a possible maximum sentence of 30 to 60 years in prison. Santiago is scheduled for sentencing at 1:30 p.m. June 16…
