Officials: Cold case solved 30 years after Upstate man found dead in middle of road

WILLIAMSTON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation in a 1995 cold case has been concluded and “confidently” deemed as solved.

The sheriff’s office said Sheriff Chad McBride and detectives will be joined by the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office for a press conference to discuss the Richard Martin case on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

In attendance of the press conference will also be Richard’s mother, Ada Martin, who has persistently worked with detectives for almost 30 years, serving on the Anderson Crime Stoppers Board.

According to officials, 24-year-old Richard Martin was last seen leaving Nancy’s Restaurant along Highway 81 on Sept. 2, 1995. An hour and a half later, he was found two and half miles away, clinging to life in the middle of Welcome Road…
