FIRST ALERT: unsettled, rainy periods Monday; warmer, muggier mid-late week

MONDAY: A sluggish upper low continues to pivot over the Mid-South to kick off the new work and school week. Expect variably clouds and scattered downpours to continue through the course of the day. Expect highs in the lower to middle 70s; rain chance taper overnight amid mostly cloudy skies – though, zones of fog may develop by early morning. Lows will drop off into the 60s by early Tuesday.

TUESDAY: As the low begins to depart to the northeast, with it, will take the rain – for the most part. A widely spaced batch of rain could still be possible for parts of the Mid-South Tuesday with variably cloudy skies. Where rain and clouds aren’t as dominant; highs will close in on 80°; where clouds hang on tough – highs will stay in the 70s. Partial clearing will allow for lows to fall back into the 60s again.

EXTENDED FORECAST: A brief lull between systems and a surging ridge of high pressure will help to bolster temperatures into the middle to upper 80s through mid-late parts of the week. Another system will approach by late Thursday into Friday; that’ll help kick off more chances for rain to round out the week and head into the weekend. A few storms during the latter part of Friday into early Saturday could be heavy and strong; a bit of quiet before another round of storms impacts the region by Sunday. Highs will top out in the lower 80s; lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s…
