MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WBRC) – People in Alabama who use EBT cards will now be able to lock and unlock the cards, the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) announced Monday morning, May 12.
It’s part of an attempt to cut down on SNAP benefit fraud. Thousands of accounts in Alabama have been targeted by scammers, costing users and taxpayers millions of dollars.
EBT cardholders can use the ConnectEBT app or website to lock and unlock their cards. They can also sign up for fraud alerts through the app and the website, so they’re notified when someone else uses their account…
