All signs point to Babe’s Old Fashioned Food, or at least the one off 410 and Culebra Road finally does. In 2024, a mysterious sign appeared with the San Antonio burger joint’s name on it and an arrow pointing to an empty lot, which is not so empty anymore.
A brand new Babe’s Old Fashioned Food appears closer to opening at 7129 NW Loop 410, where a brick and mortar location for the homegrown chain has been erected. Back in 2023, the restaurant teased the new location on Instagram after that first sign went up on the property. MySA has reached out to Babe’s Old Fashioned Food to inquire about a possible opening date.
A 2023 project details page filed on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation provides some insight into the new Babe’s location. According to the filing, the restaurant is being built from the ground up to the tune of $500,000. The filing also states the end date for construction is July 30, 2025.
Babe’s Old Fashioned Food has been flipping burgers and hand-cutting fries in San Antonio since the late 1980s.
