Missouri man charged in Amazon driver’s death denied lawyer

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. — A man from Wentworth, Missouri, accused of murdering an Amazon driver will not be eligible for a public defender for his upcoming case.

A Lawrence County judge ruled on Monday, May 12, that the defendant, Thomas Coy, was not indigent, meaning he is not poor or needy enough to necessitate a public defender.

A bond appearance hearing also took place on Monday, according to online court records, where Coy’s bond was reduced to $1,000,000 in cash or surety. Coy was previously denied bond.
