Thomas Cipolla, a Jenkintown native and 2017 graduate of La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, was ordained to the Transitional Diaconate on Saturday, May 10 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia.
Archbishop Nelson Perez served as the principal celebrant and homilist. Ordination to Transitional Diaconate is one of the final steps prior to Ordination to the Priesthood. Transitional Deacons serve in parishes for one year as they complete their studies along with other elements of the program.
According to Philly Vocations, Cipolla began to think about the priesthood when he was four years old. His father brought him to St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in sixth grade, and “he knew immediately he was at home.”
