Local company suggests San Diego mirror Coronado’s bonfire program

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — While one city is considering getting rid of all its beaches’ fire rings as a way to save money, a city just across the San Diego Bay aims to provide an alternative solution.

San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria announced possibly cutting the city’s beach fire ring program in his draft budget for fiscal year 2026, prompting some to raise questions about what this would mean for coastal enjoyment.
