Napa Winery Owner Behind Well-Known Brands Pleads Guilty in California Tax Fraud Case

SAN FRANCISCO — Brian Fleury, 64, of Napa County, pleaded guilty in federal court to aiding in the filing of a false tax return related to his Napa Valley business, Metropolitan Wines, LLC, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Federal prosecutors revealed that from 2014 to 2018, Fleury underreported more than $822,000 in income by directing wine customers to make payments directly to him, marking invoices “OTB” (“off the books”), and failing to report the earnings, the U.S. Attorney’s Office stated.

Fleury also admitted to illegally producing and selling brandy under the name “9 Fiddy” between 2007 and 2019, resulting in a $211,092 tax loss, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
