Speed cameras, other ideas considered as council debates Main Street safety

The prospect of adding automated speed enforcement cameras on Main Street has emerged as the leading idea to curb speeding and prevent another fatal crash, at least in the short term while other ideas are considered.

Meanwhile, speed humps remain an option on the table, but city officials’ enthusiasm for them seems to have cooled amid pushback from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company.
