SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Students at Westport Elementary are back in the classroom after being evacuated when smoke was found in the library.
A Battalion Chief with the Springfield Fire Department spoke with an Ozarks First crew on scene saying staff worked quickly to pull the fire alarm and evacuate students. The Fire Department determined there was no fire in the building but the smoke was caused by a broken belt in the rooftop HVAC system.
