On May 28, SporTran will cut the ribbon on the historic Sun Furniture store, which has was reimagined as SporTran City.
The building at 1253 Texas Avenue will have a food court and training center, and will house SporTran’s transportation, safety section and call center, SporTran CEO Dinero Washington said.
The site is also the preferred location for Shreveport’s new Amtrak passenger terminal. There are a lot of plates in the air, but “Hopefully here in the next two to three years, we will have service here in the Shreveport-Bossier market from what we’ve been told,” says Washington. In the meantime, he has been told to purchase an additional adjacent building for Amtrak crew layovers.
