Colorful Free Life Vest Kiosks Go Up Along Willamette River Near Where 13-year-old Boy Drowned

INDEPENDENCE, Ore. — New, colorful life jacket kiosks are up and in use along the Willamette River in Riverview Park. The project is part of a community effort led by the City of Independence.

The signs are in place not far from where 13-year-old Gregoria Mximiano-Solano disappeared and drowned in July of 2024.

They’re more colorful, vibrant and interactive than previous models in hopes that they will catch the attention of more young people…
