The city agreed last week to pay $375,000 to settle a civil lawsuit by a Portland woman injured in a 2020 protest when a police officer fired a crowd control munition at her feet.
The suit, filed in April 2022 in U.S. District Court of Oregon, said that Meghan Opbroek attended a protest at police’s North Precinct on June 26, 2020, in the wake of the police murder of George Floyd.
Officers told the crowd around 1 a.m. that they had declared the gathering an unlawful assembly. Opbroek arrived 10 minutes later and spotted officers in riot gear, the suit stated…
