Lingering showers, with sunshine breaks expected this afternoon

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – It’s a stark difference this morning for the southern half of the state, compared to yesterday morning. Gone is the widespread rain, with only isolated to scattered areas of rain and snow in the forecast. Most of the snow is falling along the Glenn Highway east of Glacier View and through parts of the Copper River Basin. Areas of the Interior area are also seeing some scattered wintry mix, although drier weather will slowly build in through the day.

SOUTHCENTRAL:

Half an inch of rain fell across Anchorage on Monday, setting a brand new rainfall record. The previous record of 0.37 inches was set back in 1962. While rain showers have been dying down for most locations, some isolated activity remains with us this morning. As the remaining rain showers come to an end, some sunshine peeks will build into Southcentral through the afternoon hours. This will allow us to dry out and enjoy a nice warm afternoon, before clouds and rain build back in for Wednesday…
