12-year-old boy swept away in floodwaters that overtook Albemarle roadway

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A 12-year-old boy is missing after he was swept away by floodwaters that overtook an Albemarle County roadway Tuesday evening.

At about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, Albemarle County fire and police units were called to the area of Newton Road and Valley Green Drive for a swift water rescue.

They were dispatched after a 911 caller reported that a 12-year-old boy, who was walking outside, was swept away by rushing water from a nearby creek that had flooded into the roadway…
