Federal court issues alert on jury duty scam in Ohio

OHIO, USA — The United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio is warning residents about a scam involving fraudulent calls, emails and messages from individuals falsely claiming to be court officials demanding money for missed jury duty.

According to a press release from the court, scammers are impersonating federal court representatives and threatening victims with fines or jail time unless they pay immediately. In some cases, the scammers are even using certified mail to appear more legitimate.
