Residents of West Knox County are poised to experience a new level of convenience as the Knox County Health Department, the Clerk’s Office, and the Trustee’s Office are set to relocate to a site with more space and improved parking facilities. The move, which takes these vital services to Corporate Square at 9000 Executive Park Drive, is on the docket for a mid-May transition with doors opening on May 19, according to the Knox County Health Department official announcement.
For locals accustomed to the tight quarters and parking scarcity at the old Cedar Bluff Road location, the change represents a significant upgrade; not only will there be better parking, but also a larger, more accessible space for conducting government business, which ranges from renewing tags and driver’s licenses at the Clerk’s Office to the administration of public health services by the Health Department; this includes immunizations, screenings for sexually transmitted infections, and the issuance of vital records such as birth certificates. In their joint statement obtained by the Knox County Health Department, officials voiced their enthusiasm, saying, “We will move from a cramped, over-crowded location with very little parking to a more accessible location.”
These improvements come as a collaborative effort among different departments, some led by elected officials who manage distinct government functions yet share a common purpose: to serve the public in a more efficient and comfortable environment, and the anticipation for completion of this synchronistic project has been well received. The Knox County Health Department affirmed, “This is a great example of different departments – some with elected officials that operate completely different government functions – coming together to create a more inviting place for the public.”…
