Person steals donated items from residents forced to move out East Memphis apartment complex

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Police said someone broke a window in a common area inside Serenity Towers on Highland Avenue and stole items that were donated to residents who are being forced to move after years of neglected repairs.

“It was heartbreaking. I was literally in tears,” said Crystal Blair, the owner of 901 Discount Mattress on Winchester Road.

Blair organized the event and dropped the items off at Serenity Towers. She said, thankfully, she took pictures of the inventory. She said most of the items had already been distributed to tenants…
