National Police Week: Honoring lives lost while wearing the badge

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – This week is National Police Week, where people remember the lives lost while wearing the badge. Outside the Hall of Justice at the Memorial Plaque, families and community members gathered on Tuesday to remember first responders who died in the line on duty.

Part of Tuesday’s program was a special presentation of a flag of sacrifice to the fiancé and daughter of Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputy, Troy Bailey.

Bailey suffered a heart attack after experiencing a stressful domestic violence call and died shortly after. All of this just days after Lincoln Police Officer Mario Herrera died from gunshot wounds sustained while trying to serve an arrest warrant…
