‘Next Adventure’ to close after 28 years in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – Next Adventure will be closing its doors after serving those who enjoy the outdoors for nearly 30 years.

The outdoor store will be stopping operations later in 2025, allowing the owners – Deek Heykamp and Bryan Knudsen – to retire and pursue their next adventure in life.

The two childhood friends opened Next Adventure on Southeast Grand Avenue in 1997. The store gradually grew into a beloved Pacific Northwest institution with two stores in Portland, one in Sandy, one on Scappoose Bay, plus a website selling gear to all 50 states and beyond…
