ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– An increased police presence is expected at the Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School Wednesday after school officials received reports of threats from a social media post. According to the City School District of Albany, the Snapchat threats were directed at the school, containing both threats of violence and hate speech.

“We are grateful to the individuals who brought this matter to our attention Tuesday night so that we could involve law enforcement officials to investigate immediately,” school officials said.
According to the district, police are actively investigating the threats. The Albany Police Department said K-9 sweeps were conducted at the school Tuesday night and again Wednesday morning before students arrived.
District officials are urging parents and guardians to speak with their children about the dangers and consequences of making violent threats, especially on social media…
